Akira was the main reason I got interested in designing cities, it has taken me a long time to do fanart of Otomo's masterpiece due to not feeling I could do Otomo the respect he deserves. In interviews with Otomo he says that Akira is not a character piece but a world piece and a representation of what Tokyo is, and that fascinated me. While I prefer the Manga's story and pacing, the first few minutes of the film blew  me away when I was a little boy and still does, it showed me a world I could never imagine.
